Leadership is one foundation needed for the success of any internet based business opportunity. Training those future leaders has to rank high on the priority list of anyone planning succession for a business. One determination of your success will be the quality of people left behind when you are no longer at the helm of your business. Now is the time to build for succession. Now is the time to build future leadership.
My Google profile records time spent in Germany. During this time, Leadership discussions revolved around how much freedom to allow those under you. Building independent leaders or dedicated followers; which is wisest? One side would argue that you should train people to be your underlings or puppets. Giving too much freedom would allow people to think for themselves and then you might end up losing control.
The opposing view built leadership. You should gather intelligent people; teach all you know, then when they mix that with what they know already, they know more then you. When trained to depend on an individual leaders do not grow, the organization cannot grow. Train all who will allow you and are capable to be leaders not followers. Training leadership may be trying, but will be very rewarding for teacher and student alike.
Trust those you have chosen to lead to make their own decisions. Give freedom for people to make mistakes and grow.
One of the first things a successful Internet business will do, as soon as possible, is train leadership so that this foundation does not crumble when the leader steps down.
The best thing to happen when you leave is for transition to be so seamless that it goes unnoticed.
